Tips for Coping with Holiday Stress

  • Be intentional and say no. Saying "no" can be difficult. Saying "no" can also help prioritize your time, recharge your social batter and de-clutter your holiday calendar to give time more for holiday events that you actually want to attend.

  • Focus on one task at a time. Doing to much can lead to feeling overwhelmed and robs your ability to enjoy the holiday season. Create a to-do list and focusing on one thing at a time will help you accomplish your to-do list goals much quicker. Delegating tasks is another great way to free up your time and decrease your stress during the holidays.

  • Turn on some tunes. Take a break and turn on your favorite Christmas songs! Music is know to help reduce stress by calming your nervous system and lowering cortisol levels. High cortisol levels can lead to impulse eating and storing extra belly fat.....treatment is listening to Mariah's "All I want for Christmas is you" on repeat.

  • Unwind. Give yourself time to unwind after a fun holiday celebration. Use your unwind time to read a book, catch up on sleep or do a fun workout. Allowing yourself time to relax during the holiday season helps keep your immune system healthy, decrease stress, reduce muscle tension, improve brain function, helps with anxiety, depression and overeating.
