đź’— RETATRUTIDE: WHEN IS IT COMING?

The next generation of weight-loss medication is making headlines—and the clinical data are worth discussing!

Retatrutide is an investigational medication developed by Eli Lilly that targets THREE hormone receptors: GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon. This triple-action approach may offer a new option for people living with obesity.

đź“… WHEN WILL IT BE AVAILABLE?

Eli Lilly plans to submit its application to the FDA in Q1 2027 (January–March). An official public release date has not been confirmed, and FDA approval must come first.

📊 WHAT DO THE CLINICAL TRIALS SHOW?

✨ 1. Significant weight loss In a Phase 3 trial involving adults with obesity without diabetes, participants in the 12 mg group achieved an average weight reduction of up to 28.3% at 80 weeks, using the trial's efficacy analysis.

✨ 2. Results in people with type 2 diabetes In a separate Phase 3 trial, participants with obesity or overweight and type 2 diabetes experienced average weight loss of up to 20.8% at 80 weeks, alongside improvements in A1C of up to 1.6 percentage points.

✨ 3. What makes it different? • GLP-1: Helps regulate appetite and fullness. • GIP: Supports glucose regulation and metabolic function. • Glucagon: May increase energy expenditure and influence fat metabolism.

The addition of the glucagon receptor is what makes retatrutide different from medications such as Wegovy and Zepbound.

🔬 HOW DOES IT COMPARE WITH ZEPBOUND AND WEGOVY?

Retatrutide's reported weight-loss results are promising and may exceed average results reported in some previous medication trials. However, these findings come from separate studies, so they do not establish that retatrutide is superior in a direct, head-to-head comparison.

⚠️ IMPORTANT TO KNOW Retatrutide is NOT FDA-approved. It is legally available only through Eli Lilly-sponsored clinical trials. Products sold online as retatrutide outside authorized trials are not FDA-approved treatments.

At Aspire Weight Loss Solutions, we believe in keeping our patients informed about advances in obesity medicine. We will continue to follow the research as more evidence becomes available.
