Mounjaro is the new once a week injected GLP-1 ( glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist) on the block that is used for glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus along with a low fat diet and regular exercise. Mounjaro users are seeing improved control of their blood sugar levels, improved A1c levels and significant weight loss with an average of 10 pounds per month. Mounjaro lower blood sugar levels by helping the body remove excess sugar from the blood, reduces how much food you eat, and slows down how quickly food leaves your stomach so that you feel satisfied longer. Like its predecessors Semaglutide and Liraglutide in lower doses are indicate only for type 2 diabetes management.

Mounjaro has become more appealing to health care providers and patients because of it’s availability and pricing. Lilly is offering a savings card for Mounjaro that is valid until June 2023 so that patients can purchase this medication for $25 regardless of insurance status. Mounjaro and other GLP-1 medications are not indicated for people with allergies to GLP-1s, pancreatic issues, thyroid cancer or a family history of thyroid cancer. Additional information can be found at www.mounjaro.com.
