Postpartum Weightloss
đź’• POSTPARTUM WEIGHT LOSS: WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO START?
After having a baby, it’s completely normal to want to feel like yourself again—but postpartum weight loss doesn’t have to mean rushing your recovery.
Your body has just gone through pregnancy and delivery, so the first priority is healing, nourishment, hydration, and gradually returning to movement.
🚶🏽‍♀️ When can I exercise?
For many women with an uncomplicated delivery, gentle activity such as walking can begin when you feel ready. More structured or higher-intensity exercise is generally added gradually after postpartum evaluation and clearance from your healthcare provider. Your recovery may look different after a C-section or complicated delivery.
đź’‰ What about weight-loss medications?
Weight-loss medications may be an option postpartum, but timing matters. If you are breastfeeding, many weight-loss medications are not recommended because of limited safety data and/or the potential for medication to pass into breast milk. After breastfeeding has ended, we can evaluate your health, recovery, medical history, current weight, and goals to determine whether medication is appropriate for you.
🥗 And remember—the basics still matter.
Prioritize protein and nutrient-dense foods, stay hydrated, get movement where you can, and give yourself grace. Postpartum weight loss should be about creating a healthier, stronger version of you—not racing to “bounce back.”
Every postpartum journey is different. Whether you need nutritional guidance, accountability, exercise support, or want to discuss medical weight-management options, your plan should be individualized to you.
💕 Your journey. Your pace. We’re here for you.
